Things that annoy the crap out of me

I’ve got kids home sick from school today, causing me to lose work time and get way behind on real work – which I can’t bring home with me. So I spent some time surfing and everyone and their dog seems to be putting up lists, so here is mine.

A list of things that annoys the crap out of me.
1. Climate Change. The climate changes, it has since time immemorial. We cannot stop it. Get over it.
2. Misunderstandings of science. Science is NOT a consensus. Just ask Galileo, or Einstein, or Florey.
3. Misrepresentations of Science. Science is not proved by anything, nor does it prove anything. It is a way of explaining observations. If observations cannot be made that make an explanation insufficient, then it goes back to the drawing board. If no contrary observations can be made, then an explanation can gradually become accepted (damn, there is that consensus thing…) as a ‘law’. However, even those ‘laws’ are subject to change if something is observed that was never tested before (Newtonian gravity comes to mind here.)
And the last thing that annoys the crap out of me…
