Coal Fired Noir?

I have a notebook with another two or three blog-posts worth of ‘Begin Writing Here’ in it, and I am going to edit/transcribe those today for my ten faithful readers to get their fix… but I just had a way cool idea pop into what passes for my brain.

Steampunk detective fiction

Coal-fired noir!

Has it been done? What should I read? I am already a huge fan of “Girl Genius” so anything else along those lines would be great research.
