The Talking Sword – Sword of Justice post 2

Posted by Andrew Girle on March 1, 2011

For those of you who came in late – this is a sub-story off the main story line. Tab back through the posts to catch up on the backstory, or wait until tomorrow when I have the first three chapters available as a pdf you can download!

Francesca’s icy demeanour warmed slightly and a hint of a smile appeared at the corners of her mouth, “I didn’t think soldiers were allowed to have tantrums where they stamp their feet.”

“Mother, don’t you know anything? Shield up to blind them, stab to the belly to put them on the ground then advance and stamp them to make sure they don’t get up. Every soldier learns that from the moment he starts training.”

“My husband, I don’t think our daughter should be learning of such things!” Francesca spoke to the governor this time, “I think that you should have a word to the Decurion of the guard.”

The governor reached forward and took Lucca by the shoulder and knelt beside her.

“Your mother is right, you know. If the guardsmen are teaching you then they are not doing any guarding.” He glanced over at his wife, and gave Lucca a slow conspiratorial wink with the side away from her mother.
